For Property Holders

The operating aims of NEspace included helping people to make property available to professional artists looking for somewhere to practise in the North East.  Thanks to funding from Arts Council England North East, the range of services was made available at no cost to its beneficiaries.

Unfortunately, since the NEspace funded period finished, services are now limited.

If you have workspace an artist could use, tell us and we'll include it in our Property Search database.

We've developed and manage a portfolio of properties ourselves, so we know our way around many of the issues.  We've also researched what artists need out of their working spaces and looked at how properties can be developed to meet those needs.  The changes don't have to be major (unless you want to create a space that could cater for every type of artistic activity).

There are a range of benefits to bringing artists into your considerations.  We've seen simple cases of achieving occupancy (and rental income) for unused premises, and a complex case where planning permission and inflated prices were achieved for a primarily residential development on brownfield land.

Local authorities are also looking at the role of artists within the regeneration process, and learning from areas where positive effects have been noted.

We can help you to take make provision for professional artists in the way you manage your properties - to everyone's benefit.
