N E Space

NEspace was devised by Arts Council England North East.  The service was run until early 2008 as a pilot project by Project North East (PNE).

PNE is a Local Enterprise Agency, based in Newcastle upon Tyne, with over 25 years of experience in supporting people through the process of starting a business.  Many of the people we help want to make professional use of their creative talents.

As well as advising small businesses, PNE has a track record of working with groups of artists to look at how their needs can best be met by the premises available.  PNE's research has helped local authorities in the region to justify supporting the creation of more studio space.

PNE are also workspace operators and developers, owning and managing a portfolio of properties in Tyne and Wear.  Many of our units are occupied by small, creative businesses.  As such, we are ideally placed to give independent advice to both artists and property owners on the practicalities of adapting premises to the needs of artists.
